I want to be this kind of mom.

I found this on youtube, and felt so compelled to share it with you.
I love being a mom, it's the best job in the world. I hope I can be this type of mom..one who knows....

Kandis B. Designs in stores!

One of Kandis B's biggest clients is ATG. They own all the stores in the SLC Airport (I lucked into this one.) While at the airport...I got to see some of my designs in some of the stores. It was very exciting.
Here is a picture of me with a collection of mine. This collection is called "Going Green Global Warming Scarves" They are all recycled made out of t-shirts and jeans. They are super funky and lots of fun. If you want one of your own...let me know, and I'll get you one at wholesale. (or any of my designs for that matter.) But anyway...here is a picture of me and some of my designs. (SO EXCITING)

Our Cruise 2008

For my Moms 50th birthday she wanted to go on a family vacation. So my parents took all 19 of us on a cruise to the Mexican Riveria for 7 days. We went on Princess Cruise lines Golden Princess. It was a beautiful HUGE ship. In fact in Mazatlan we were ported with two other ships, and our ship dwarfed all those others. We had a great time!
Elle and her cousin Macady on the flight to California.

The Ship had four pools. The outside main pool was the perfect pool for the kids, where they could play in shallow water. The pools were fresh water too...which made it really nice. Elle loved going swimming with all her cousins. Dave took her swimming each time, while I watched and got some sun!

Of course all we felt like we did was eat. Here are a few pictures of us at dinner.

In Puerto Vallarta, Dave took Elle to hold a "Big Bird". She let the bird kiss her cheek...she loved it.

In Mazatlan we spent the day at the beach. Elle's cousins were getting their hair braided, so she had to get hers done too. She looked so cute afterwards. Dave and I also went parasailing. The launched us from the beach and landed us on the beach too. It was a lot of sun. I got a lot of sun this day, and broke out into a sun rash...luckly it only lasted a day...and then went away. We had a great time on the beach this day!

This is Elle after she got her hair braided with her cousin Rylee (Rylee is 14 months older then Elle.)

We had such a good time. Our last port was Cabo San Lucas, and I forgot our camera on the ship. The boys when deep sea fishing, and the girls went shopping. I love Cabo, and I'm tempted to go and stay for a week just in Cabo San Lucas. We had a great time on the cruise....and can't wait to go on another one.

Fertility Testing.

Well today I went to the Fertility Specialist that I was referred to.
It was really discouraging. The doctor gave a lot of words of encouragement...but when I started to realize what the cost was going to be...I became really really overwhelmed and discouraged. After the 251.00 consult (yes that was just to talk to the guy) I came out of there with a new course of action. At least he gave me a path to go down. So this is the news. I am to start on three new fertility drugs. Then I have to under go three blood work test at different types of the month, and a HSG test that will evaluate what my insides look like.(He said it is really painful.) Oh the joy.
Luckily I contacted my insurance...and they will cover the testing. Hopefully this will work for us. Wish us luck.

I would die for that!

As most of you know Dave and I have been trying for about three years now to have another baby. It took us about 2 1/2 years to get pregnant with Elle. We got pregnant with Elle on Clomid. We have just finished our last cycle of clomid, and my doctor has taken us off of it. He feels we need more intensive fertility treatments. So I've been sent to a specialist. When I watched this video I cried..and it really hit home.
I can't help but say HOW blessed we have been to have Elle. If we can't have anymore...at least our lives has been enriched by her spirit.

Throwing yourself down a mountain can be fun!

On Saturday Dave and I went skiing to Alta. We had such a great time. It was the first time both of us had been out for eight years, so needless to say we were a bit rusty. We got in a lot of runs, and wore ourselves out. On one of the runs I came down almost snowplowing the entire way. When I got to a flat spot Dave was waiting for me, and he said "Good job sweetie...look what you just did." I looked up aqt the slope where I just came down..I just about peed my pants. I had no idea we were coming down the face of the mountain. It was a whole lot of fun. I only fell 3 times...I was proud of myself. Dave is a much better skier then me...but one day I'll be better. We had a good time, and we are looking forward to getting on the slopes again.

A very personal post...that's not so private.

(written by Kandis)

I have never blogged about anything personal, so this is a first. It's no secret that for the past year i've been publicly dealing with what I call "Ed". It was over one year ago that Kamille, my best friend forced my hand to get help. I wrote this about a year ago....and I am still feeling the same way.

"For the last while I have someone else a part of my life. Someone who really not many people knew about. His name is Ed. I hate him, but I can't seem to let him go. I dated Ed while in high school and thought I kicked him to the curb, but I guess there was unsettled feelings, and well Ed made his way back to my life.

Ed now lives with us, he sleeps in my bed with me and Dave and he is at every family function, and ever life event. Ed eats dinner with us, and most times Ed follows me to the bathroom.

Ed tells me things that I'm sure aren't true, but some how I belive him. He tells me things like "You're fat today" or "You look great today" he also tells me things like "You can't wear that shirt, you should wear this one, it makes you look thinner" Ed tells me what I can eat and what I can't. Ed tells me where I will go and where I won't.

Today Ed went with Elle and I to the mall. I got Elle some lunch there, but Ed wasn't hungry so neither could I be. Then when we left the mall Ed told me how proud he was of me, because I listen to him, and I didn't eat lunch.

Today I was going to buy a shirt at the mall, but I didn't. I like the shirt, but the size was a large and Ed thought by buying it I was saying I am a large size, so I couldn't buy the shirt...mainly cause he didn't like the tag size.

While at the mall Ed would wisper things in my ear like "Do you see her, she's fat; you don't want to look like her". he also points out all the pretty girls and how attractive they are and says things like "you are nothing until you look like them"

Ed goes with me to the gym every night. He makes me run 3 miles in 30 minutes. Any shorter then I'm a loser.

Ed eats every meal with me and says things like "I can't believe your eating that...you're so fat."

Sometimes Ed says nice things like "You look great today, a lot better then last week." Ed also says things like "You see when you are thin people notice, and they approve. You want their approval don't you?" He also says " Your face is so much prettier now that you are thiner"

So you see not all thing said by Ed are bad, just most of them.

Ed controls my entire life. I hate Ed. I wish he were gone! I try to kick him out, but he only stays gone for a day or so..and then he sweet talks his way back into my life by saying things like. "Life is so much easier with me around." and "come back to me, I'll so you how great you can be" then there's "you see, you need me. With me in your life, people notice you."

I really do hate Ed. I want him gone. I don't know how to get rid of him, it seems the longer he's in my life the harder it is to let go of him. I'm afraid without him then I won't be what I want."

That was a year ago...and I'm still dealing with it. Many close people have told me "I'm over your Ed." THat hurts, because I can't get over it. I am still dealing with this everyday, and I need you all to not be over it...untill I'm over it. Thank you so much those of you who have shown your support and love. This is not something that will be better tomorrow, but I'm working on it. If you would like to know how you can help me..it's this easy. Don't give up on me, when you give up...i've given up.
That's it...maybe in another year I will have more progress to tell about.

My new addiction!

I am so addicted to Digital Scrapbooking. It is so fun! I have tons of scrapbooking supplies, but can never find time to scrapbook. And besides I am so lazy I don't ever get the pictures off the computer. And then when I want to get pictures developed it costs a fortune because I have so many to develop. So when I was introduced to digital scrapbooking I feel in love. Some of you might already have found the joy in this...but I'm so excited I had to share it with you all.
SO FUN!

The most amazing Pie EVER!

So last week I went to a friends house, and she made the most amazing pie. So I had to make it for myself. I'm telling you....it is amazing...and you need to try it for yourself.
And I'm even going to be so nice to give you the recipe, and you don't even have to ask for it.
YUM YUM YUM

3/4 cup crushed wafer cookies (about 24 wafers - Nilla Wafers are suggested)
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted
1 ready-to-use refrigerated pie crust (1/2 of 15 oz pkg)
4 oz (1/2 of 8 oz pkg) cream cheese, softened
2 large baking apples, peeled, sliced
1 large pear, peeled, sliced
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/4 cups thawed whipped topping
Preheat oven to 375°F. Mix wafer crumbs, brown sugar and butter until well blended; set aside.
Place pie crust in 9-inch pie plate. Spread cream cheese carefully onto bottom of crust; sprinkle with half of the crumb mixture. Set aside. Combine fruit in large bowl. Add granulated sugar, flour and cinnamon; toss to coat. Spoon over crumb layer in pie crust; sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
Bake 35 minutes or until fruit is tender and crust is lightly browned, covering loosely with foil after 25 minutes if necessary to prevent crust from overbrowning. Cool on wire rack. Serve with the whipped topping. Store any leftovers in refrigerator.

I hope you love it as much as I do...if you don't you're crazy!

A Broadhead Year!

It's been forever since we've updated our blog, so I guess it's time.
So we've decided to remind you what the Broadheads did this year.

January....
Nothing too event full happened in January. We brought in the New Year with our friends Clint and Kamille.

February
This was a fun month. We got away for eight days on a cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We had such a wonderful time. In each port we wanted to do something different. So in Cabo San Lucas, (we have been there before) we first went and ate at Cabo Wabo...and made sure we had the Waburrito. Okay it's the best thing ever. We've had it before, so we had to go back. HEAVEN ON A PLATE. (if you like Mexican food) Then we took a Rhino ATV adventure, and went through the desert and down to a beach front. That was so much fun, although super dusty....but so worth it.
In Puerto Vallarta (I know I'm not sure on the spelling.) Our tour was cancelled because of our ship had to rearrange the order of our port stops. But we really wanted to do what we had planned. So we were some of the first off the ship and made our way over to a little stand and booked the adventure we wanted to do. We got to go into the jungle and zip line. Over 1000 feet in the air. It was so much fun. However we were pushing it close getting back to our ship....we were the second to last tender boat back in. That was so scary.
In Acapulco...we went snorkeling...and shopping....and In Ixtapa..we went shopping and we walked along the beach looking for seashells. We had such a great time. The ship was awesome.
Elle stayed home with Grandma Elaine, and Papa. They are such great parents to have watched her for us. That was our February.

March
Dave turned 30!

April
hmmmmmm...do you remember April...that's pretty numb to me.

May
I cut my hair off.

BEFORE

After

We also spent time going to the zoo.

And at all the Jazz playoff home games. GO JAZZ!

June
Dave and I celebrated our 6th anniversary. We didn't do anything too big. We went to dinner and a movie. While Elle got to spend the night at her cousins house. That was her first sleepover. During the middle of the night she got scared and woke up...and tried to ex cape their house. So needless to say she hasn't been ready for another sleep over to any ones but grandmas.
I turned 26 on the 3rd.... And Dave bought me a new T.V. Yes I really wanted it too.
At the End of June my parents took us to Disneyland, along with my sisters and their families. I believe there were 19 of us. We had a great time.

July
Bear Lake!
We went up to Bear Lake for Dave's families annual "reunion". We had a good time. Although while playing some water sports I bursted my eardrum and was in a huge amount of pain. "It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt."

Elle also turned 3 on the 10th of July. She had a "Pink" party. And she was most excited to wear her party hat.

August
Elle competed in the Miss American Starlet Pageant
She didn't place, and that's okay. This was her first pageant. However she was chosen to be in their ca lander...She is Miss March 2008
MISS MARCH ELLE BROADHEAD

Elle's cousin Alexa also competed in the pageant. (not against each other.) Alexa won the swimsuit competition, and placed in the top 15. GO LEXI.

At the end of August Kandis B. Designs made their debut at Buyers Fashion Week in Vegas. Kamille Bauer went with and helped so much. I'm so grateful for her selling energy! She's amazing.
While in Vegas we took advantage of the fun. We were given VIP passes to Pure the night club, and so we went dancing one night.
We went and saw KA at the MGM one night...and we made sure we ate at some really awesome places too. We had a good time. It was a fun week to spend away...especially with my best friend!

September
Elle started preschool
Her teachers name is Miss Hollie.
She loves her school.

October
Circus time! My parents once again out did themselves and took everyone to the circus. Elle had a fun time! Here is some silly pictures!

Halloween was fun, as Elle dressed up as Princess Aurora. She's so pretty!

Witches Night Out...at Gardner Village.
I was invited to go with a bunch of Women...and it was so much fun. My friend Heidi pretty much won the costume competition. She was a hoot!

November
Elle is bringing out the silly in us...she is so much fun...and always insists on making funny faces.

This month we also started something we call "Family Movie Night" Family movie night is always on Fridays. We make a big bed with lots of blankets and pillows. And we watch a movie we haven't seen...or haven't seen in a long time. We pop popcorn, and have candy...and spend time with eachother. Elle really looks forward to it, and always asks what movie we are going to watch next.
<

We spent Thanksgiving at Daves Parents house this year. Carolyn and Anthony came in from Colorado and it was nice to visit with them.

December
We tried to make the holiday season as special as we could for Elle. We made Gingerbread houses. We relinquished all control and let Elle do her own thing. She loved the frosting part.

Christmas Day was so magical for Elle. The look on her face was so special. She was excited about everything.

Now on to 2009!
We hope your Holidays were amazing...and your year was great too.
We hope that Next Year is great too!
