Ode to Grandma Syme!

I love my Great Grandma Syme, although she passed away in 1996 she still has a special place in my heart. Grandma was known for her kindness, and love. She never said a bad thing word about anyone. She had a keen knack for being able to take nothing and make something great. Grandma knew how to preserve and can just about anything. This she taught to my Mom. Growing up I remember me and my sisters helping Mom can her own fruits and veggies. It was just a part of summer and fall. I remember my Mom always saying that not many people know how to can now a days, and it truely is a lost art. She felt it was important that we had a basic knowledge of this. Since I've been married I have still helped my Mom with her canning, but I have never done any myself. UNTILL NOW! Over the last two nights I have been trying my hand at the legacy that Grandma left me.
My first two projects have turned out great, and I am so proud of them.
So I made Peach Jam, and Tomato Salsa.
It's so exciting! I can't wait to do Pickles when my cucmbers are ready and I am going to do spiced apples in a few weeks!
So needless to say I am grateful for Grandma Syme and her knowledge that she gave my Mom, and my Mom gave to me, and I will give to my girls.

UGGG! I have to vent!!

Okay so I was in the mall shopping for clothes for Elle, and I happened to hear this conversation that really REALLY bothered me. So there were two girls working at the cash wrap at the store, and they were just chatting. They were talking about a girl who also worked there.
Girl "A" said to Girl "B"..."have you noticed how much weight "girl C" has lost?"
Girl "B" yeah she's getting skinny
Girl "A" yeah she's lost like 20 pounds in a month
Girl "B" wow...I wonder what she's doing?
Girl "A" well I think I am going to start calling her "Annie"
Girl B and Girl A both start laughing.
I immediatly turned around and gave them a stare, as if to say "nuh uh, you didn't just say that." They of course didn't notice my blazing stare.
Then Girl "C" walks up from the back of the store and says "what's so funny?"
Girl "A" "Oh nothing..(pause) .....Annie"
More laughter from the two girls.
Girl "C" now looks like she has no idea what they are talking about and says "Annie"?

Then girl "B" said to girl "C" something like this "So how have you lost so much weight? I can't believe it...it's like WOW."
Girl "C" "well I've been watching what I have been eating and, I'm working with a trainer"
Girl "A" "we were starting to think you were Anorexic, (pause).... Annie"
Now girl "C" looks completly appauled and insulted and responds something like this "no I've just been working really hard."

Okay so this is why I am so bothered by this.
What if this girl was infact engaging in Eating Disorder behaviors? That is the last thing someone with that may have and Eating Disorder needs to hear, or wants to hear. They should be encouraging her to seek help not talking "poking fun at her".
And another thing is...you never know who around you infact has delt with, knows someone who has, or is currently struggling with a disease such as an eating disorder.
So this is my plea to EVERYONE....NEVER NEVER talk about someones weight. Even if they are losing weight and look good, don't say to them "wow you've lost weight, you look good." A simple "You look good," or a "You look good today" will work just fine. Commenting on someones weight dives weight lose, and weight gain. So please just don't say anything.

These stupied girls at the mall could have "triggered" me or someone else who overheard. Thankfully enough I am looking out for someone else right now...so I was able to deal with their insults (all though they weren't directed at me)....however I did want to karate chop someone!

Do you think Dave would mind if I start calling him Edward?!

Okay maybe I won't call Dave Edward, but I am so in in LUST with the character Edward Cullen. Some of you like Jacob but I'm a Edward girl.

So on Sunday I finished Breaking Dawn. I loved it....(for those of you who haven't read it yet..then I won't spoil anything..don't worry you can read on.) It was EVERYTHING I wanted in the book. I am so pleased.

So on Friday Night I went with one of my Best Friends from High School Mary, and her friends from her neighborhood to get the book. I met Mary at her house in Lehi, and we went over to Chili's and ate, then we went to Smiths (smart girls..cause Walmart was insane) and waited for 15 minutes and got our books. With my Drive back home I arrived home about 1 a.m and I read till about 2 a.m.
It was a fun night (Mary your friends are fun!)

I will say however I am a little bummed that there are no more Twilight books coming out. But that is okay because I feel completely satisfied with how everything played out!

Breaking Dawn!

I am SO excited for the final "Twilight" book to come out on Saturday! I am really really tempted to go wait at Walmart at Midnight Saturday to get the book. I did this when the last Harry Potter Book Came out, and it was Crazy, Mad, Insane, Caos. But if anyone is willing to wait with me....let me know...cause I just might be that in need of some Edward!

Flat Tire!

So it seems like we have been having so much car trouble lately. Well today my mom called me and needed me to go down town and pick something up for her, and bring it up to her at Kingsbury Hall later. So Elle and I went and got what she needed and headed up to Kingsbury Hall. Well my Mom wasn't there yet so we went and got us some lunch and waited for her to call. But we decided to get a head start and head over to Kingsbury and wait for her there. Well I heard something on weird going on outside my car, so I pulled over into a subdivision and found out that I did have a flat tire. So I said a little prayer, and wanted to find a service station. A block away from where I was low and behold a service station. Thank Heavens.....right??? WRONG. NOBODY WAS THERE. They had a air pump thing to fill up tires, but you had to turn it on with a key. And there was no way I could keep driving to find something else. SO I decided I would have to change the tire. So here I am in 102 degree weather, with a crying 4 year old who really has to go "potty" and I'm 5 months pregnant...trying to change a tire. So I get everything out, and I'm thinking "somebody will stop and help me." WRONG...NOT A SOUL! I can't believe how many MEN drove into the station where I was (mind you I was right there...where everyone could see I was trying to change a tire myself) and these jerky men...just looked at me and drove away. HELLO ...can't you tell I am all alone..pregnant, and trying to change a tire. Meanwhile I have the instructions spread out on the boiling hot ground...and I am trying to figure this thing out. I start to cry, because I had no idea what I was doing. So I said a little prayer that I would be guided through this. Even though I couldn't help but cry...I figured it all out. I changed the blasted tire MYSELF, took my mom the stuff I had for her, and headed home. We made it home safe....and now I know how to change a tire. I'm still reeling about the whole thing, but I am proud of myself. So to all of you girls who don't know how to change a tire...I am here to say pull your car out of the garage and give it a practice shot. I always thought someone would stop and help, but nobody did. I hope it doesn't happen to you, but if it does....I hope you weren't as dumb as me, and that you actually know ahead of time how to change them on your own!

We are having a.......

So I went in for my ultrasound today. The baby looks strong, and healthy. We are so excited about our new addition too. Since before we got pregnant Elle has been asking where her baby sister was, when we got pregnant...all she's been able to talk about is her baby sister. We have asked her what she would do if she was having a baby brother, and she says "no it's a girl". So today she went with to the ultrasound...we figured if it was a boy we would have to prepare her, considering she has been so sure that it is a girl. Well...what can I say...she was RIGHT..we are having a GIRL!! When we told Elle she was having a sister she said "I know, I've told you that." She was right...she did tell us...we are excited for another daughter.

A little "George family trivia"
I have three sisters, no brothers...so four girls,
my oldest sister has four girls
my older sister has one girl, and one boy.
I will have two girls,
my little sister had one little girl (who passed away) and has another little girl.
That is 13 girls and one boy for one family....I hope someone is having the boys to go with our girls!

Elle is starting something new!

Ever since last August when Elle watched my friend Sarah play the violin, she has talked about it at least three times a week. She has said how much she wants to play the violin. So we have been waiting untill she was old enough to play. Next week Elle turns four and with that she will be starting the Violin. Sarah's mom, Julie will be teaching her, and we are so excited. Today we went and got her violin, and she is thrilled to death she can't wait to show everybody she knows her new "biolin" as Elle says. It is the cutest little instrument I have ever seen in my life. The pictures don't do it justice, because you really can't tell how tiny it is, but believe me...it is TINY.

What 7 years has done! (Caution this is a long post...hey it was 7 years worth of stuff!)

For you blogging pleasure...I have decided to share with you what we have done in our 7 years of being married.

(this should be intresting)
June 9th 2001
Married! WOOOOWOOO!
We were married at 8:20 in the morning (I know...and I would like to say sorry to all of you who got up so early to be there with us..we suck I know)
It was a great day!
We honeymooned to Las Vegas. We had a good time.
We made our home in Magna in a GETTO apartment....(sometimes we were even scared a little)
We made some really good friends this year! The Noels to be specific!

We traveled to Las Vegas a lot because it was cheap (thanks mom and dad for letting us use your condo all the time.)

We went boating a lot....snowmobiling a lot...and enjoyed our time together having no money.
Although we had no money we seemed to get away a lot, and we are still not sure how we managed that.

In 2002 we went to Vegas a lot twice with the Suckoski's (hey guys do you remember that time we left for vegas...and Dave told my boss I ate some bad meat? ha!)

I was a voluenteer for the 2002 Olympics. (Opening and Closing Ceremonies)

I think in 2002 Dave had a million jobs (okay maybe ont a million but it seemed like it.)

In 2003
Dave and I still made time to travel to Vegas (hey it was cheap for us.)
I went to Europe for 4 weeks with Dance. We went to Poland and Germany. I had the most amazing time, although I missed Dave so much it was a defining moment in my life.

Late 2003 we found out we were going to have a baby, and we dug our hole for our house.

In 2004 We finished our House (okay so this photo our house isn't finished yet..but you get the picture.)

July 10th 2004 we had our daughter Elle Makena

In Feb. 2005 Dave and I went on a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riveria. Elle stayed home and spent time with both of her Grandmas.
In June 2005 My mom, my sister Jolyn, me and Elle went to San Fransico for 4 days.
In Nov. 2005 we went on a 7 day cruise with my family to the Carribean. Elle stayed with her Grandma Broadhead

In June 2006 We took Elle to Disneyworld. My parents went with. While we were gone we found out that Daves Grandma Gessel passed away. (talk about putting a damper on the happiest place in the world.)

In February 2007 Dave and I went on another trip cruise to the Mexican Riveria. Elle stayed with her Grandma Elaine.

In June 2007 We went to Disneyland with my Family.

So here we are in 2008 and if you are a current blog reader...you will know what we've been up to this year...so as not to drag this post on forever...if you can't remember what we've done this year..scroll down...read again....it should catch you up.

So 7 years have gone by..and I realized that we really like to travel a lot. But beyond the traveling we have had a good life. We enjoy just being together and watching our daughter grow. We couldn't be more blessed!

7 years already?! (and a day!)

Yesterday June 9th Dave and I celebrated our 7 Year Wedding Anniversary. I can't believe how fast time goes by.
Here are a few pictures of our wedding day!

A late night at the Hospital.

So yesterday about 8:00 a.m I woke up feeling sick as normal. But throughout the day it kept getting worse and worse. I couldn't keep anything down not even a tiny swallow of water. I talked to my good friend Ashley and she said that both of her girls were sick with the stomach flu...I figured that I got something from them...because they were at my house the afternoon before....and we went to their house the prior evening. So needless to say I was really really sick.
I was in so much pain, and so dehydrated. I called my doctor, and he told me that I needed to get to the hospital to get an IV started because he was worried for the baby. So we went to the hospital about 7:30 last night. It took two hours for them to even get me in. I sat in the waiting room, and felt like I was going to faint. At this point my face and hands started going numb because of being so dehydrated and sick. I couldn't even sit in the chair any longer. So I laid done on the DIRTY ER waiting room floor (really I didn't even care at this point.) In fact there was some old ladies sitting across from us..who were so mad that they wouldn't get me in because I was so sick. They got me in, and started an IV. I had I think four bags of IVs and they ran a bunch of tests, gave me pain meds. They check on the baby, and the baby seemed to be doing fine. But needless to say I was so sick. They sent me home about 1:30 in the morning (I think). Today I feel like I've been hit by a truck...but at least I'm getting better. Our anniversary is on Monday and we were hoping to spend the night away tonight...but as you can imagine it's not happening. But I am getting better and hopefully by our anniversary I will be better.

Calling all opinions!

Okay...here is the deal. I really like changing my hair. And I'm kinda stuck in a rutt. I'm not sure what to do with with it right now.
It's been really fun to have it super short..but I thought maybe I should grow it out again....but it get at an awkward length.
So Here are some pictures...and I expect all of you to tell me what I should do. Because I just don't know anymore!
Picture #1. Super Short
Picture #2. Mid length
Picture #3. Long (yes I know it's not that long..but it's the longest I've had it in a long time.

So leave your opinion...you're might be the one..that changes my hair.

I am the worst blogger ever!

So Sorry Friends....I am considering myself the worst blogger ever!
I don't understand why I am so horrible at this, it is just something that happens.
I check everyone's blogs ALL the time...every day...all the time. And really I hate when you don't update your blog. So I completly understand you being upset with me.
So I will promise to you today..that I will at least update once a week.

So here goes my pledge to be a better blogger.

I Kandis (and Dave...although he does no blogging) do promise to all my blog stalking friends, that I will make a honest effort to post at least one post a week on this here friendly blog....so all those people who are nosey like me can feel included in my not so exciting life.
(That was one long run-on)

That's all for today! (or right now at least...Hey I might suprise you all and post another one today..hahahaha)

We paid, and tried, and paid and tried some more....then we just PRAYED!

Since Elle was six months old we stared trying to have another baby..knowing that we would have a hard time getting pregnant.
We started fertility treatments again...and then had to be sent to a fertility specialist. After tests and more treatments...the doctor said that there was no way we would get pregnant with out doing injections (this is about 2000 per try and a 16%chance we would get pregnant.) At this time he suggested that we might want to start in-vitro. Mind you this is 10,000 dollars per try and only about a 50% chance of getting pregnant. We were really sad. Dave and I decided that we would start the adoption process. After much prayer we felt this was the right way to go. The week that we were going to be getting our finances for adoption we found out WE ARE PREGNANT! We can't believe it. We are so excited as you can imagine. We are about 9 weeks along...so we are due December 17th. Elle is so excited to be a sister. It has been along time coming. We feel so blessed. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers on our behalf.

Elle's top Ten!

Elle has been tagged by little Broox Bate.

1. Elle is the purse queen of all three year olds. (Or Children...even many adults.)
She doesn't go anywhere without a purse. (No I do not put her up to this.) She puts all sorts of trinkets, and treasures in them. 90% of the time she takes the purse that she carried that day around with her to bed. She really sleeps with it..and when she wakes up in the morning..Guess what?!!! it is still in the crook of her arm.
This is something really endearing about her...I just love it.

2. Elle is the worst eater in the world. I sometimes have no idea how she stays alive. She doesn't eat worth a darn. I guess this is why she is so amazing the skinny. Elle can still wear pants (although they may be really short) That are 12-18 months. Because Elle doesn't eat very well..I let her graze all day long. Some of her favorite foods are: Grilled Cheese (she has to dip it in ranch dressing) Salad...loves salad..., Mac and Cheese, Cheese (we go through a large block of cheese every week), Steak..yes steak. Just to name a few.

3. Elle loves her dog Ruby. She picks her up and dances with her. Ruby is so patient, she just lets Elle roll all over her.
I'm pretty sure Ruby loves Elle just as much as Elle loves her.

4. Elle loves to dance. She likes to make up her own little dance. Hmmmm I wonder where she gets this from?!

5. Elle loves everything Princess. She knows every song from every Disney Princess movie, she has all the Princess dressup's. She calls herself Princess Elle. Infact others refer to her as Princess Elle. When we go to church all the older women say "Hello Princess Elle".

6. Elle adores her cousin Alexa. She lives behind us, and she loves to play with her. They enjoy dressing up together..and just being little girls.
Alexa is Elles best friend!

7. Elle adores her dad. She calls him Prince Charming. She likes to talk to him on the phone, she gets excited when he comes home from work. It's really sweet to see them together.

8.Elle enjoys making up stories. All the have the same "guidlines": There is a princess, a ugly witch, something that the princess has, and something the evil witch takes, a handsome prince, a rescue of the thing the witch takes, and a happily ever after.

9. Elle knows who the prophet is. Can pick him out in a group line up, and knows his name. She also knows who the other members of the first presidency are...their names, and which one is which. I'm so proud of my Sunbeam!

10. Elle knows almost all the songs from the musical Wicked, even though she has never seen it. Her favorite song is Popular, and she sings every word, every influction, and every action. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen.

I just love Her...she is so special.

Elle tags.....Wes, Chris, Kimball, Tori, Connor, Lizzy, Emma and Annika and Lexi and Ty Wells.

Yes I know..long time over due! (Fishing trip to Lake Powell)

Over the last weekend in March Dave and I went with my parents, and some friends in our ward the Butchers to Lake Powell to go fishing. Elle stayed with her Aunt Janet and Uncle Sean..and the boys. She had a tough time without her momma, and asked for me often. (don't tell Dave but they said she never even asked for him...just me...and her Ruby dog) Thanks Janet and Sean for taking care of her..sorry she was a little difficult.

We had a blast fishing in Lake Powell, and caught a lot of fish. We had good fishing weather and really good luck. All but Saturday. Although the weather was beautiful on Saturday the fish weren't biting. Oh well, we caught enough fish the other days to make up for Saturday...but it was so depressing!
Dave preparing to fillet some of our MANY fish!

On Friday I caught the biggest fish! It sure was fun!

Our Friends the Butchers. Ashley and Troy, and their girls Brooklyn, and Caitlyn.

And Lastly some of our many fish we caught on Friday (just some!)

I want to be this kind of mom.

I found this on youtube, and felt so compelled to share it with you.
I love being a mom, it's the best job in the world. I hope I can be this type of mom..one who knows....

Kandis B. Designs in stores!

One of Kandis B's biggest clients is ATG. They own all the stores in the SLC Airport (I lucked into this one.) While at the airport...I got to see some of my designs in some of the stores. It was very exciting.
Here is a picture of me with a collection of mine. This collection is called "Going Green Global Warming Scarves" They are all recycled made out of t-shirts and jeans. They are super funky and lots of fun. If you want one of your own...let me know, and I'll get you one at wholesale. (or any of my designs for that matter.) But anyway...here is a picture of me and some of my designs. (SO EXCITING)

Our Cruise 2008

For my Moms 50th birthday she wanted to go on a family vacation. So my parents took all 19 of us on a cruise to the Mexican Riveria for 7 days. We went on Princess Cruise lines Golden Princess. It was a beautiful HUGE ship. In fact in Mazatlan we were ported with two other ships, and our ship dwarfed all those others. We had a great time!
Elle and her cousin Macady on the flight to California.

The Ship had four pools. The outside main pool was the perfect pool for the kids, where they could play in shallow water. The pools were fresh water too...which made it really nice. Elle loved going swimming with all her cousins. Dave took her swimming each time, while I watched and got some sun!

Of course all we felt like we did was eat. Here are a few pictures of us at dinner.

In Puerto Vallarta, Dave took Elle to hold a "Big Bird". She let the bird kiss her cheek...she loved it.

In Mazatlan we spent the day at the beach. Elle's cousins were getting their hair braided, so she had to get hers done too. She looked so cute afterwards. Dave and I also went parasailing. The launched us from the beach and landed us on the beach too. It was a lot of sun. I got a lot of sun this day, and broke out into a sun rash...luckly it only lasted a day...and then went away. We had a great time on the beach this day!

This is Elle after she got her hair braided with her cousin Rylee (Rylee is 14 months older then Elle.)

We had such a good time. Our last port was Cabo San Lucas, and I forgot our camera on the ship. The boys when deep sea fishing, and the girls went shopping. I love Cabo, and I'm tempted to go and stay for a week just in Cabo San Lucas. We had a great time on the cruise....and can't wait to go on another one.

Fertility Testing.

Well today I went to the Fertility Specialist that I was referred to.
It was really discouraging. The doctor gave a lot of words of encouragement...but when I started to realize what the cost was going to be...I became really really overwhelmed and discouraged. After the 251.00 consult (yes that was just to talk to the guy) I came out of there with a new course of action. At least he gave me a path to go down. So this is the news. I am to start on three new fertility drugs. Then I have to under go three blood work test at different types of the month, and a HSG test that will evaluate what my insides look like.(He said it is really painful.) Oh the joy.
Luckily I contacted my insurance...and they will cover the testing. Hopefully this will work for us. Wish us luck.
